Description

A fast-growing evergreen tree highly prized in traditional Indian culture and medicine. It has a large, dense crown, providing excellent shade, and produces small, white, fragrant flowers followed by olive-like drupes.

  • Neem oil is a key ingredient in soaps, cosmetics, and organic gardening products as a natural and effective pesticide.
  • Twigs are used as traditional toothbrushes.

Medical Uses

  • Virtually every part of the tree has medicinal properties; it is used for skin diseases, as an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and dental care (twigs).

Industrial Uses

  • Neem cake (residue from oil extraction) is used as a soil amendment and fertilizer.
  • The wood is durable and termite-resistant.

General Uses

  • Provides excellent shade in hot climates.
  • Considered a sacred tree in some parts of India.
